Our team in Wallingford provide fully featured IT services to our users, both in the UK and across the globe. We’re growing our team and searching for a 1st/2nd Line Engineer to help us to continue delivering a first-class service.

The role involves:

As the Senior Engineer for the business, you’ll take ownership of network and server administration, maintenance and planning. You will be tasked with addressing 3rd line support queries that are both user and infrastructure related through our remote system, visiting site when necessary for onsite support and project work. You are the first escalation point for 1st and 2nd line support, aiding and assisting other members of the support team where necessary.

You will:
Patch management and firmware updates
Manage virtual server (VMware and Hyper-V), maintaining server resources and upgrading server hardware estate
Test and maintain the Backup and DR systems, and help the team maintain server licensing
you will be responsible for the management and maintaince of MMR Group AD and Office 365 environment.
Manage and maintain Security elements (AV, Firewall, Encryption, Alerts etc).
Responsibility for IT related documentations, IT invoices and raising purchase orders
Work with 1st and 2nd line support staff to resolve issues quickly and efficiently providing training to colleagues where possible to ensure continuity of knowledge in the department.
Provide users 2nd/3rd line support for escalated helpdesk items.
Assist 1st and 2nd line helpdesk support when department is busy helping imaging and building laptops and desktops as required.
Provide Out of hours support for urgent issues.

Installation, manage, maintain network equipment (switches, access points, firewalls etc.).
Maintenance of network, managing VLAN, VPN, WAN, Interoffice tunnels and routing.
Help manage network security.

Take a Leading role in IT projects as required, planning, driving and leading to completion

Helping Manage and maintain company and office phone systems.
Using MDM solution to ensure company mobiles are managed through the system.
Actively monitor the IT infrastructure, resolve infrastructure and server issues.


You will have:

You’ll have strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at a time as well as having a flexible, can-do attitude to enable us to provide effective IT support to our offices globally.

You will be able to demonstrate:
Proven experience administering a windows server environment (2008/2012/2016).
Previous experience in virtualised server environment (VMware experience would be advantageous).
Understanding of Cisco switching and Meraki access point experience.
Strong Knowledge of Windows 7/10.
Office 365 administration and support.
Active directory administration.
Strong Networking experience (Wi-Fi, DHCP, DNS, Firewalls etc ).
Experience using MDT and WDS for OS deployment.
Experience managing GPOs.
Strong time management skills, including setting and delivering to deadlines

Experience of the following would be a bonus:
IT project management experience.
Experience with Nagios infrastructure monitoring.
Experience working with SAN Storage.
Understanding of VLAN networking.
